is a graduate of Union College in Schenectady, New York, Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He attended the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed a five-year general surgical and orthopaedic residency program at Montefiore Hospital and Albert Einstein University Hospital.
His early years in orthopaedic surgery focused on traumatic injuries. For a 10-year period he served as a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Service at Nassau University Medical Center. As a result, he has great facility with repair of traumatic injuries of the upper and lower extremities. Particular expertise is noted with fractures of the hip, femur, tibia and ankles.

Dr. Meyer has special interest in arthroscopy and arthroscopic reconstruction of the upper/lower extremities. As a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, he is privileged to participate in annual meetings and at the Arthroscopy Learning Center in Rosemont, Illinois as an instructor. Arthroscopic rotator cuff and shoulder reconstructive procedures are performed on a regular basis. Expertise in allograft anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction facilitates rapid recovery and return to sport. When indicated, arthroscopy of the hip is also performed.
Joint replacement of the hip, knee and shoulder have become markedly prevalent in our athletic and aging population. Dr. Meyer takes special pride in maintaining currency and performing the most up to date surgical procedures when joint replacement is required. Smaller incisions, when indicated, are made to minimize pain and facilitate rapid recovery.

As a member of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, (AOFAS), Dr. Meyer takes pride in performing procedures for bunion repair, claw toes, posterior tibial tendon insufficiency and flat foot deformities. Chronic heel and Achilles tendon problems are also treated regularly.
For our youngest readers, Dr. Meyer is former host of the segment of the weekly television series . In this show, athletic injuries, nutritional concerns and training techniques are discussed for the enlightenment of our athletic youth.
In the Summer of 2006 Dr. Meyer was voted the "Best Orthopaedic Surgeon on Long Island" by the editors of The Long Island Press.
